The RTA has announced the timings for the Dubai Metro for New Year’s Eve 2018/19 and for all forms of public transport in Dubai over the new year holiday and it is good news as always.
The Metro will be running continuously, as it has done in previous years, from the morning of Monday 31st December (5am for the red lines stations and 5.30am for the green line stations) all the way through to midnight at the end of the day on Tuesday 1st January.
This means that new year revellers will be able to travel home on the Metro at whatever time they finish their celebrations. This enables a free flow of traffic during the evening without any mad dash for the last metro train home.
In the past the Burj Khalifa metro station has been closed early on New Year’s eve and people have had to use metro stations further afield if they don’t plan to get to the Downtown area early enough. We have not seen reports of this happening this year but that is not to say it won’t happen again, so keep an eye out for any announcements.
